Wedge Heels Lead Summer Shoe Parade

By Shelley Costello

Spring and summer 2006 has seen a return of wedge shoes in playful colors with natural materials and soles. Wedges are a great asset to your summer shoe selection for many reasons.

High heels give you the benefit of lengthening and slimming the overall look of your legs and figure. Wedges are an ingenious invention because you get all the advantages of a heel, without the discomfort and hassle of heels. Many women find heels uncomfortable, and some research indicates that long-term use may cause damage to the muscles and joints. Wedge-heeled shoes, on the other hand, are not only comfortable; they are much easier on the muscles and legs.

You'll find a variety of styles to choose from this summer. Wedges come in cork, hemp and other natural materials, enhancing the summer theme. Pretty ankle ties or straps provide a feminine look. And different textures, patterns and colors make wedges impossible to resist.

Wedges are also extremely versatile, complementing most outfits. Short skirts, knee length skirts and capris all look great with wedges that have ankle ties.

Mule or open toed wedges jazz up your jeans and sandal wedges add a little sexiness to your summer dresses.

If you are looking for something to wear on a day out or to take on holiday choose a pair of flip flops that have a cork or lightweight wedge.

This season, wedge heels really are a girl's best friend!
